Back to the Roots - Geel

l'Altra Follia has opted for a program from the Baroque period with the project 'Back to the Roots'. With this we return to the roots of the Western classical music tradition.

We combine this program with interesting 20th and 21st century music.

With 'Back to the Roots' we also refer to the use of a 'ground', a bass line with a recurring harmonic pattern on which variations are systematically developed.

Among other things, we present 'La Follia' by A. Corelli, which was central to the foundation of l'Altra Follia. 'La Follia', literally translated 'madness', consists of a theme & variations in which the project 'Back to the Roots' is the symbol as the first variation thereof.

For this production we invite the young talented cellist Shuya Tanaka to take on the basso continuo role. In addition, he will each time present a different self-composed work to the audience in this concert series.
