KRIS STROOBANTS
Music flows through the veins of Kris Stroobants. After studying trumpet and baroque trumpet at the Lemmens Institute (Leuven), he specialized himself in orchestral conducting. Kris became guest teacher and conductor at the Maastricht Conservatory. He also gained experience as conductor and arranger at the Flemish Music Theater.
As the founder of Panta rei, the entrepreneur / conductor in Kris emerged early on. Since then he has conducted numerous hafabra and symphony orchestras in Belgium and abroad. Les Frivolités Parisiennes and the Cairo Symphony Orchestra were recently added to that list.
Today, as the artistic director, Kris is the driving force behind Frascati Symphonic, which was founded in 2007. With this orchestra he went on several tours through China.
In addition, he is always looking for new connections across artistic boundaries. In this way he always succeeds in putting together a beautiful, innovative project.
At l'Altra Follia, his old love for the harpsichord comes back under attention. Within this ensemble Kris once again performs as a performing musician.

He then went to the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp to specialize in orchestral instruments with Guido De Neve
To complete the circle, he is now completing his studies as a Suzuki teacher.
Delejan is currently active as the second violin leader of Frascati Symphonic, where he is currently soloing in the '12 seasons' project, a mix of the 4 seasons of A. Vivaldi, A. Piazzolla and M. Richter.

l'Altra Follia, that's us, Kris and Delejan, two good friends who found each other at Frascati Symphonic.
In addition to our work in the orchestra as a conductor and musician, we also share a warm passion for chamber music.
t
The name l'Altra Follia, was inspired on one of the oldest themes in European music, 'La Follia',
literally traslated, the madness.
Throughout history, numerous composers have composed variations on this theme.
It was the version of Corelli that we performed together for the first time.
Now we take it to the next level.

With l'Altra Follia, the 'other' madness, we make variations on ourselves as an ensemble, both in line-up and in style.
Each project we invite different artists.
In addition to the classical music scene, we also like to explore other art forms.
We cover word, dance and audiovisual arts.
This artistic freedom offers us the space to discover new boundaries.
